‘What the hell is happening with the West Coast?’
The West Coast, California, campus of the University of California at Riverside has been evacuated due to a possible gas leak.
The Riverside Unified School District tweeted that the district had been notified of a potential leak on the north side of the school building.
The district is working to determine the cause of the leak and has set up a public health advisory.
It is unknown whether the leak is related to the wildfires raging across the state.
In a statement on Monday, UC Riverside President Richard Broyles said the university was prepared to open on Tuesday.
“We are preparing for our students and faculty to return to campus, and our campus police and emergency response team will respond to any and all calls that may arise,” Broyles wrote.
Brockles said the fire was under control and the campus would remain open as normal.
UC Riverside’s Twitter account said the district was still assessing the situation and would update its Twitter account as it became more clear.
